For those of you who do not know, every morning I wake up to music playing outside of my head (no radio on), which I call a Musical DLG™ (Download from God™). This morning's Musical DLG™ called, 'Peace of Mind' by Boston served as a gentle reminder that it is my job to become a friend with my mind. I practice a form of 'mind control' with myself so that my mind, when rattled by my emotions, does not end up controlling me. It is so easy to become rattled by our emotions and then lose control of our mind. I dislike it enough when someone else attempts to control my mind through their rattled emotions, so I sure as heck don't like it when I do that to myself. You see my dear mentators, this is how we end up allowing the emotion of anger, fear, doubt or anxiety to control our mind, which then controls our actions and reactions. If my mind is going to get stimulated or rocked by emotions, I want those emotions to be all Good.
At an early age (about age 12-ish) I became interested in 'thought' (I know, so Gemini of me) and I began reading spiritual, metaphysical and philosophical writers. My mama bear drove a school bus, so after school I would walk to the town library and plunk myself down between the isles and read. Then she would pick me up after her bus runs. I was also a people watcher at an early age. As I grew older I couldn't stand being upset or controlled by someone else's crazy. It's tough enough managing my own crazy, much less putting up with or trying to understand or interpret someone else's crazy. The more I matured, the more I pulled on the threads (readings) from years earlier between the library isles. I began adopting positive affirmations that I read in Florence Scovel Shinn's books, which is the same format that I used in my book, "And Who Are You? - A Daily Regimen For The Soul." I remembered what I read years earlier in Napolean Hill, Emmet Fox, Wally Wattles, Norman Vincent Peale, Dale Carnegie's, Florence Scovel Shinn (and others) writings. All I wanted was to have peace of mind, but peace of mind does not just come to you, it something that is practiced and managed daily.
About 16-1/2 years later in my mid-to-late 20's I began brain-washing myself, which just so happened to be during my first Saturn Return (Saturn in Capricorn). I returned from whence I came, which was back to my favorite spiritual teachers. Saturn in Capricorn was calling me to be more disciplined and I answered the call by starting college (at age 26-1/2) and I began re-reading my favorite spiritual teachers writings all over again. I crammed and forced-fed my mind everything I could into my new imagination, which was the new image that I was holding for myself. Interestingly enough, I find myself rounding a full circle moment during my second Saturn Return (currently Saturn in Capricorn) and diving back into self-discipline all over again, from whence I came.
Fast forward, when I heard 'Peace of Mind' by Boston this morning, it reminded me of one of my favorite yogi's - Swami Niranjanananda who said -- "When you become a friend to your mind, the mind will respond to your instructions." He goes on to say that by not becoming a friend with your mind and not managing yourself, "This is one reason why people have failed to experience the spiritual quality, the spiritual awakening within themelves, despite putting in all their best efforts, despite having all the best tools of satya (Truth) with them, they have not been able to create a dent or a crack in the armour of their ego."
My dear little mentators, as we come upon the New Moon in Pisces on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 this is the time to go inward and look at yourself. Look at yourself from the inside out, not the outside in. This is the time to reconnect with your spirit with Spirit. If you want peace of mind, there are more than enough tools to help you get there. Reading is not enough, you must take action and practice daily the gift of 'peace of mind' in order to have it. Enjoy the song.
