MERCURY IN CANCER

Mercury is in Cancer from June 17, 2024 until July 2, 2024. Mercury in Cancer has its finger on the 'pulse of the public' and brings about family communication.

Mercury stands for the intellect, common sense, cold reason, commerce and business. Its qualities are fluidity and versatility. Its position and aspects tell us about our communication and learning habits and our modes of thinking. Here is a nice little piece of Mercury trivia for you. Mercury will never be more than one Sun Sign away from the Sun. This means someone who has their Sun in Cancer, will have their Mercury within 1 Sun Sign on either side of Cancer or it will be in the sign of Cancer. This means there are only three possibilities that a Cancer Sun Sign individual might have their Mercury in -- Mercury in Gemini, Mercury in Cancer or Mercury in Leo. This helps you guess someone's Mercury even if you don't know their exact birthdate but you know their Sun Sign. You can pretty much rule out Mercury in the opposite sign (Capricorn) or the four signs on each side Capricorn (Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus) and (Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius).

Mercury in Cancer indicates where the mind (Mercury) is ruled by the emotions (Cancer) and these emotions can be deep from a biological and psychological standpoint. That's because Cancer rules the biological and psychological foundation of the home and family. Basically, these are childhood emotions that seep back into the mind and dictate your response. What you really need to focus on during this time is your emotional responses including your emotional actions and reactions because they came from somewhere and under this influence it is going to be psychological or biological. It's your deal, not their's.

This planetary influence has the memory of an elephant. If you know a Cancer, then you know that their memory is solid as a dang rock! Scorpio never forgets a sleight but more on a grudge level, whereas Cancer never forgets . . . PERIOD!

The cool thing about this is, if you have Mercury in Cancer in your Natal Chart or Solar Return or if your child does, then that is a fantabulous tool to use when studying. All you would do is associate an emotional memory to whatever it is you are trying to remember and kabamma-slamma, you will remember. If you used nuemonics or some other study tool to remember it would make things a whole lot easier to associate an emotion to it. You could also use a 'brain dump'. When you take your test, take a few moments to dump your brain on the back of the test writing down all of the things you know such as equations, definitions and pictures and then you have your notes right there to flip over and look up the answers.

At the same time, individuals with Mercury in Cancer have the ability to learn through osmosis where information just seeps and leaks into their brain. By the way, osmosis is where molecules pass through a semi-permeable membrane from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration. Man oh' man this is one heck of a learning tool to use. Even if you don't have Mercury in Cancer in your Natal Chart or Solar Return the energy is still present and moving through the house in your chart ruled by Cancer and you should use it. Individuals also have the ability to learn through subliminal states, which means it is unconsciously learned but it can be used consciously. It's crazy cool.

The exception to all of this easy learning above would be if an individual had Mercury in Cancer in the 12th house of their natal chart and then there could be study issues or learning disabilities. These issues can show up in other areas of the chart or with hard aspects to Mercury in Cancer, but the 12th house would be the classic placement. If that is the case, then using the study tools named above would help and work incredibly well. That should tell you how great this Mercury in Cancer transit really is if an individual with a study or learning issue can benefit from it.

This placement also causes individuals to react emotionally to something that has an emotional appeal. Those with this placement will cry at a parade, a little boy standing in the rain waiting for the bus or someone winning on a game show. Whatever the influence is, it is easily felt through this placement. Advertisers can use this placement to reach the depth of the consumers emotions and they would sell whatever they had hand over fist. This is an incredibly sensitive placement where subliminal advertising will work to get you to buy, especially if it has anything to do with the home or family. There is also stronger thinking toward the family. The family will be everything during this transit and will drive the actions of each of us in our own way. If it's Good, it's going to be very Good and if it's bad then you need to get hold of your emotions because it could feel very very bad.
