For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, there are situations I am attached to that have set the foundation for how I relate to certain people. It's like I'm saying to someone, "Look what I've done for you and see what you've done to me!" Whether the gift I give to others is an act of service, a present, a compliment, physical touch or simply quality of time, it should be just that, a gift. Sometimes I attach myself to what I do and expect them to do something for me in return. So where's the gift, right? I know my gift in return should be my Good feeling from giving if it is given for the right reasons. There have been times when I have loaned money, which caused me to set the price of the relationship when I did not get the money back. That shows just how much I valued the relationship. All of these experiences have helped me realize that even I, who am far from perfect, am still nonetheless Your child, and even I know how to give Good gifts to others. And if I know how to give Good gifts to others with all of my flaws, then it begs the question, how much more are You, who are my Father, my Source, my Substance and my Supply of all Good things willing to give me? Thank You for bringing this awareness to me today and I will use the affirmation today to settle this awareness in my mind once and for all.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 11:5-13
5 Jesus said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend to whom he goes at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
6 for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey and I have nothing to offer him,'
7 and he says in reply from within, 'Do not bother me; the door has already been locked and my children and I are already in bed. I cannot get up to give you anything.'
8 I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves because of their friendship, he will get up to give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.
9 "And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish?
12 Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
13 If you then, who are wicked, know how to give Good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
