Father, today's reading is a strong reminder that there is nothing hidden that will not be seen. This causes me to wonder, what is it about me that I hide that I do not want others to see. You see it, You see everything that I do and everything that I am, so why am I trying to impress others by hiding it from them? Could that mean that I am trying to impress others before I am trying to impress You? Do I care more about what others think more than I care about what You think? Jesus tells His disciples in the reading below, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees that is the hypocrisy." The Pharisees were really great at publicly showing their religious acts but yet behind closed doors they had cruel acts and cruel intentions. This is the hypocrisy that Jesus referred to. Hypocrite means 'actor', which is someone who pretends what they are not. Father, I do not wish to pretend anything. First of all, it is not right or Good to be fake or pretend and secondly it is too much work to keep up an act. The intention of hypocrisy is to make a Good appearance, which ultimately takes me off my intended path. So the ultimate intention of hypocrisy is to take me away from You. That is its game!
Father, I need to stick close to You, behind closed doors and when I walk out the front door. I know that You always have Your Divine Eye and Ear on me at all times and You already know what I want or need before I ask for it. My desire is to be so in tune and in touch with You that my first instinct is acknowledge Your Existence before I begin to rattle off what I need or want. My desire is to be so connected to You that everything in my Life automatically comes after You, not before You. There is nothing about You or my spirituality that I want to be an act. I want to put You right out there and be bold without hesitation or reservation. What do I care about what others think? I care about what you think! My desire is to be so fastened to You that my fears shrink away and dry up when You shine Your Light on me. My desire is to always have the awareness that everyday is 'open mic night' and there is always a 'live camera feed' on me and it is this awareness that keeps me on the straight path back to You.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 12:1-7
1 Meanwhile, so many people were crowding together that they were trampling one another underfoot. He began to speak, first to His disciples, "Beware of the leaven--that is, the hypocrisy--of the Pharisees.
2 There is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.
3 Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the Light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops.
4 I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more.
5 I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the One who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes, I tell you, be afraid of that One.
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two small coins? Yet not one of them has escaped the notice of God.
7 Even the hairs of your head have all been counted. Do not be afraid. You are worth more than many sparrows."
