MOON OPPOSING JUPITER

This aspect depicts conflict which, when resolved, results in growth. Oppositions show a tug of war between opposing forces. If they are resolved, then the oppositions become the backbone and strength of the chart.

It is important to understand that the Moon rules the home and the family. It also rules the emotions, feelings, sensitivities and moods, while Jupiter is happy-go-lucky and optimistic. The Moon is emotional, while Jupiter is lucky, adventurous and abundant. Jupiter is very benevolent, generous and philanthropic. Jupiter rules religion and higher education.

This aspect reminds me of the individual who keeps giving money to charity, religious organizations or goes broke giving money to 'causes'. This can cause problems within the household if one is saving money and the other is giving away all of their money to ministries that the spouse or partner does not support. All too often this aspect puts faith in people and causes that do not deserve it and can be all too generous with their donations.

The individual with this placement in their chart gives generously to the wrong people and wrong causes. While the person may attract money fairly easy, holding on to the money is another story. This is the person who says if they ever win the lottery, they will give all of the money away, and they probably will, to the wrong people. Can you see the opposition or tug-of-war that this benevolence (Jupiter) can create within the home and family (Moon)? This energy is way too benevolent and extravagant.

There is also the danger of being too self-indulgent with luxuries and comforts in life. Since the Moon rules the mother and Jupiter is the higher octave of the mother, the individual's mother may have been over-indulgent or self-indulgent thereby teaching the child that this behavior was acceptable. The mother may have over-indulged the child and now the child does not want to grow up and leave the mother's nest.

This is placement of the mama's girl or mama's boy. All too often this aspect will bail out the lazy child. Once the child with this placement grows into an adult, there is a shear lack of motivation to achieve any goals because quite frankly, the child has no goals because they never had to have them. There is an expectation of extravagance and completely unrealistic expectations. Does this sound like a spoiled child to you? Well, it is!

While this aspect often lacks a faith in oneself, they put way too much faith in others, including religious faiths. This aspect is also guilty of putting causes or people on a pedestal. There seems to be no middle ground as this is an all or nothing aspect. Certainly the lesson here would be balance and moderation since this is an opposition. Balance is the other side of this opposition but rarely occurs.

The best thing an individual can do under this aspect is appreciate one's own self- worth. While this individual has a lot of Love, assistance, caring and support to give, it does not mean it should be 'given away' blindly. Giving fish away without teaching anyone how to fish can hurt more than it can help.
