The most important thing I want you to know, understand and recognize about January 1st is that the New Year was chosen by the ancient Romans and was named after 'Janus' the Roman god of beginnings and transitions, which worked well with the idea of a new year. So, there ya' go. January 1st has nothing to do with Astrology.

When we are talking about the True, real and right calendar in Astrology, then that would be the Astrological Calendar, which begins at the Spring Equinox (around March 20th) when the Sun enters Aries, which is THE SIGN of fresh starts and new beginnings.

When we are talking about your new year personally, then that would be your Solar Return, which is when the Sun returns to the same sign, degree, and minute it was in when you were born. That date may be your birth 'date', or it might be one (1) or two (2) days before or after your birth 'date', because again, it is when the Sun returns back to the same sign, degree and minute it was when you were born.

So the New Year in astrology on January 1st is pretty much BS. Sure, there are aspects, birthdays, the season of Capricorn, etc., but it is not the start of the astrological calendar. That would be when the Sun enters Aries on or about March 20th each year.

This is why it is so important to know the planetary energy surrounding your birth 'date' every year, which is your Solar Return. If you have been a client of mine and I have previously written a chart for you, I will write your Solar Return chart again if you contact me, otherwise I do not offer them on this website anymore.

The time to look at your New Year is actually your birthday. That is your New Year and when you should be making new contracts, resolutions and agreements with yourself. The Solar Return represents the 12 months of that particular birth year, with the 1st house being the 1st month, the 2nd house being the 2nd month, the 3rd house being the 3rd month, etc.

That means if your birth were today, January 1st, then the 1st house of the Solar Return would be from January 1st to February 1st, then the 2nd house would be February 1st to March 1st, then the 3rd house would be March 1st to April 1st. Any planets and aspects hitting a particular house during that time would give HUGE INDICATORS as to what would be happening or occurring in your Life.

This is how you can prepare early and lay groundwork when you can look down the lane and see when an aspect will hit exact. Solar Returns are a yearly GPS (God's Positioning System) map to tell you what is coming and gives you plenty of time to prepare for it.

Now imagine everyone on the planet living out their Natal Charts AND SOLAR RETURNS on any given day. They might be in the 6th month of their Solar Return, while you are in the 12th month of your Solar Return. You would be working on or paying attention to opposite energies. Cool huh? Study yourself folks. Study you!

One more thing, and dont'cha find it interesting that in Capricorn Season we 'get serious' about our lives all over again. Capricorn IS THE MOST serious sign of the zodiac. So we get that 'move on' during Capricorn Season to get straighten up and fly right making serious agreements with ourselves. The energy would stick better though if you straightened up and flew right starting with your birthday. Even so, right now the Sun, Venus, Mercury and Mars are all in the serious sign of Capricorn and all of these planets are personal planets. Funny how that works out.
