Father, today's reading below scared me a bit because there are times when I have been so down in the dumps that I yelled at You for not bailing me out immediately. I wondered to myself if I had ever blasphemed against the Holy Spirit. I have been angry at You but not enough that I removed myself completely from You, at least I don't think so. The way I understand blasphemed against the Holy Spirit is to be completely removed from You where one would choose evil as Good and good as evil. (Isaiah 5:20) Also, to be in fear of such sin actually signals that I would not be dead to Your Presence and I would be conscious of the need for Your grace and mercy. I have had to really work through this reading because it does frighten me a bit to have sinned so bad that even You would not forgive me. I also understand that a sin can only be unforgivable if repentance is impossible, which would be the refusal or inability to express regret or remorse. This causes my mind to flash to the need to ALWAYS call out to You to forgive me of my sins at the beginning, middle and end of each day because there is no telling what time or what day that You will decide to call me back to Yourself. I not only need to, but I want to, always make right and be right with You. If I give up on You, then that would signal my pride and ego have succumbed to myself, instead of surrending to You. I know that there are no limits to Your mercy and if I refuse to accept Your mercy through repentence, then I would reject forgiveness and the salvation that You offer through the Holy Spirit. If I reject mercy, then I reject forgiveness, which means I would have rejected You. I get it! I turn to You Father, who gives me grace and help, and anyone else who calls upon You and asks for it. Thank You!
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 12:8-12
8 "And I tell you, every one who acknowledges Me before men, the Son of man also will acknowledge before the angels of God;
9 but he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God.
10 And every one who speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say;
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."
