Father, today's reading below reminds me of my calling in life and what You have purposed me to do. The sum of all my experiences in Life have led me straight to my calling and my message to the world that You implanted in my heart. I can see how Simon Peter and his brother Andrew being fishermen and then becoming fishers of men became their calling. They were set up from the get-go through their life experiences to catch and keep, rather than catch and release. They learned how to gather with their net and pull in their catch of the day. A Good fishermen is patient, quiet, consistent, persistant and prepared. Simon Peter and Andrew had been doing this their whole Life, so they were the perfect candidates to become one of Jesus's disciples. After all, a Good fishmen does not want to scare all the fish away.
Thank You for this awareness that I too can be a fisher of men, no matter if my calling from You is musical, artistic, scientific, teaching, caring, helping, counting or unifying. No matter You chose for me to do, You have been preparing me to do it my whole Life. I accept Your calling in my Life and to do what You purposed me to do. I am on purpose!
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 4:18-22
18 As He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
19 And He said to them, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.
21 And going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zeb'edee and John his brother, in the boat with Zeb'edee their father, mending their nets, and He called them.
22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
