For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading below brings to mind how often I turn down or don't even respond to invitations. This could be something as simple as receiving a coffee invite to receiving a party invite. If I do not recognize or respond to a small invitation, how in the world would I be able to recognize or respond to a big invitation. In this physical world we ask for an RSVP to invitations, which as You know means, 'please reply' in French. As for You, You don't even ask for or require an RSVP although I know You would like to have a committed answer from me. Often times I live Life so quickly and ineffectively that I forget what is truly important in my Life and that is to connect personally and Love those around me. How could I be so busy that I do not take time to Love and enjoy my Life or those I Love? Sometimes I live Life so fast and blindly that I forget about You and I am so grateful that You have not forgotten about me. You continue to invite me into Your fold no matter what I do or how much I disregard or ignore You, there You are again with a special invite for me. You have never forgotten me, it is I who have forgotten You. Father, thank You for this reminder today that You have an open door policy and I have a standing invitation no matter what.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 14:15-24
15 When one of those who sat at table with Him heard this, he said to Him, "Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!"
16 But He said to him, "A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many;
17 and at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, `Come; for all is now ready.'
18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, `I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it; I pray you, have me excused.'
19 And another said, `I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them; I pray you, have me excused.'
20 And another said, `I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'
21 So the servant came and reported this to his master. Then the householder in anger said to his servant, `Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and maimed and blind and lame.'
22 And the servant said, `Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.'
23 And the master said to the servant, `Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.'"
