For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading below serves as a gentle reminder of how to go about asking You for something. The comparison that Jesus uses in this parable, being You and a dishonest judge, is a bit odd to say the least. This reading is really all about Faith. When asking You for anything there cannot be doubt or uncertainty in my tone, which is revealed in begging. Instead there should be certainty and belief in my tone that has more firmness and resolve. This dishonest judge was just in it because it was a paying job and it had prestige and influence, which is far different from You. If this dishonest judge can render a Good decision when asked, how much more would You do? The mouthy widow knew that this judge had the power to render a just decision and she counted on it. She knew it! How much more can the Faithful count on You when asked for a just decision. The problem with Your children here on earth is the lack of Faith when asking You for something. Father, I realize that when asking You for anything there cannot be a shred of doubt or uncertainty in my tone. The mouthy widow knew the judge had the power and it showed in her tone, just as I know You have the power to give me all that is right and just, while also gently guiding me to all that is Good.
Father, because I now understand Your Goodness so clearly and I believe in You and on You, please go easy on me for my previous lack of Faith. Now I consciously, deliberately and knowingly follow Your lead on the path that You have set for me. I trust You blindly. My eyes will remain fixed on Your Love. Thank You in advance for all that You do for me.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 18:1-8
1 Then He told them a parable about the necessity for them to pray always without becoming weary. He said,
2 "There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being.
3 And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary.'
4 For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being,
5 because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.'"
6 The Lord said, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.
7 Will not God then secure the rights of His chosen ones who call out to Him day and night? Will He be slow to answer them?
8 I tell you, He will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?"
