Father, today's reading below serves as a gentle reminder that I should always be aware of the sights and signs around me, not only those on earth but those from above. Sometimes I can be so focused on what is right in front of me that I forget to pay attention to the big picture. If everything happens for a reason, then I need to pay closer attention to everything around me and not just what is occurring in my most immediate physical space. It may be just a matter of raising my eyes or raising my focus so I can see further along my path. As Your Son Jesus said, ". . . awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky." The sights, the signs, the smells and the sounds all have meaning and have purpose. It is my job to follow the signals and the map that You created for me. Thank You for this awareness that there are sights and signs coming from You (above) other than only those I can see here on earth.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Luke 17:20-25
20 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, He answered them, "The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed;
21 nor will they say, `Lo, here it is!' or `There!' for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you."
22 And He said to the disciples, "The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you will not see it.
23 And they will say to you, `Lo, there!' or `Lo, here!' Do not go, do not follow them.
24 For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in His day.
25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation."
