For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading below serves a fresh reminder of how prepared I need to live my Life for all kinds of reasons. While it is certainly a Good thing to live a Life of freedom, wonderment and curiosity, I know that it is not wise to live a Life blind of all the challenges and detours that come with daily living. I need to a live a Life of preparedness, not neglect . . a Life of organization, not disorganization . . a Life that shows readiness, not ignorance . . and more importantly, a Life that is more ready to meet You, than to meet anyone else at the door. Every single thing that I think, do and say should be in direct alignment that connects myself to You. Father, we both know that every single day I fall off of that connected plan and every single day I struggle to reconnect with You, especially in one of my ego-centered moments. Staying connected to You in everything I think, do and say is tougher than the toughest diet I have ever been on but it sure beats the alternative. When I disconnect from You, my first clue is I don't feel Good about myself. I always feel better about myself when I reach for You and grab hold. Father, You are the foundation of my Life on which I choose to build, live and enjoy my Life. These are not just words I ramble, this IS how I feel. You are The Man for me.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 7:21-29
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in Heaven.
22 Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name? Did we not drive out demons in your name? Did we not do mighty deeds in your name?'
23 Then I will declare to them solemnly, 'I never knew you. Depart from Me, you evildoers.'
24 "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."
28 When Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at His teaching,
29 for He taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
