Father, there are times when I treat others with less attention and respect than I should. I know how judgmental I can be and how unattractive it is when I behave in this way, yet I don't know why and offer no excuse. Maybe I do know why. Then there are times when I judge and criticize others when I have done far worse. It is said, "Everyone is a critic but no one wants to be criticized." As I think about this lack of attention and respect toward others, it has made me think more about how I treat those who are closest to me and those that I Love. After all, I do not know everything that others have been through or what makes them behave in unattractive ways, just as they do not know the same about me. Father, help me to become the Loving and kind person that you made me to be and help me to see your "I AM" presence in every person who I come in contact with or connect to. Please help me to be a more forgiving, tolerant and merciful. I do realize what I have 'not' done to the least of your brothers and sisters, I have also done to You. Please help me be more attentive toward humanity and to move through my Life with grace and humility.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
Matthew 7:1-5
1 "Judge not, that you be not judged.
2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.
3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?
4 Or how can you say to your brother, `Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye?
5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."
