For a more enriching experience,
go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further
and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's scripture serves as a great awareness for me, which teaches that my words always need to be backed up by my action. I have no business pointing fingers at others when my actions have veered off the path over the same thing. I know that practicing righteousness in order to be noticed, acknowledged or rewarded is hypocritical behavior. Father, my desire is not to seek man's approval or my ego's approval, but to seek Your approval. Forgive me as I seek to keep You first and foremost on my mind only to please You.
Through Jesus Christ's Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face. ~Amen
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 7:21, 24-27
21 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
24 "Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined."
