Father, today's reading reminds me of all the wonderful things I missed out on because I did not keep a vigilant watch. It is also reminds me of all the things that unnecessasrily occurred because once again, I did not keep a vigilant watch. Sometimes I can get so wrapped up in drama, minutia and trivial pursuits that it takes me off my game of watching for You. I must always keep watch for You as if You could walk up to me anytime or anywhere. I should keep watch for You, as if I am looking at my watch waiting for a bus.
It is so easy to forget that the job of the 'negative force' is to take me off my game and to divert my attention away from You. That's it's job! Negative energy (the evil one) has literally 'nothing better to do' than to make me lifeless, spiritually dull and indifferent to what is going on in the world. The minute I buy into the negative game, then I own it, and that is who I become. Once I become of that type of energy, then my heart and mind are no longer on You. When my heart and mind are no longer on You, that may be the time that You arrive in front of me or it may even be the time that I arrive in front of You and I would not be ready. eeeeeeek!
Father, thank You for this wonderful awareness today. Jesus made a perfect example of being alert and watchful saying, "If the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into." Wow, no kidding! So must I be mindful and alert of the negative force attempting to tempt me or take me off my spiritual game. I must always be mindful and alert of You always and ever present with me, guiding and directing me all along the way. It is never You or loses sight of me, it is I who lose sight of You. Thank You Father. Thank You!
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Matthew 24:42-51
[Jesus said to them . . . ]
42 Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.
43 But know this, that if the householder had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.
44 Therefore you also must be ready; for the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
45 Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing.
47 Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.
48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, `My master is delayed,'
49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eats and drinks with the drunken,
50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know,
51 and will punish him, and put him with the hypocrites; there men will weep and gnash their teeth.
