SPIKENARD (Aralia racemosa)

DESCRIPTION: Also known as American Spikenard or muskroot the root is used for medicinal purposes and resembles sarsaparilla and the root is spicy and aromatic.
POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Used as a stimulant, diaphoretic, an alternative for syphilitic, cutaneous and rheumatic cases.
POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS:
PARTS USED: Root
GENERAL USAGE: Often used for colds, chronic coughs, asthma and arthritis. Also used to loosen chest congestion, boost tissue growth and promote sweating. Also applied topically for skin ailments. Used in tea or as an infusion.
