SCULLCAP (Scutellaria lateriflora)

DESCRIPTION: Scullcap is also known as skullcap is a perennial herb that is part of the mint family. It is a wetland loving species that grows near marshes and meadows. It has blue flowers that appear at the top of the main stem.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Promotes relaxation and used as a sleep aid. Also known to be used in reducing anxiety. Most often taken as a tea or tincture.

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS: Generally safe in normal amounts. Avoid if pregnant. An overdose can cause confusion, giddiness and possibly seizures
