  A mint plant that is the smallest of the mints. It is a low growing plant that is very aromatic with a hairy stem with small thin leaves. Mainly sold in a dry state for making tea from the stems but also used as an essential oil.Contains an essential oil called oil of Pulegium which has a lot of great properties similar to spearmint and peppermint as an essential oil. 
  Pennyroyal has been praised for centuries to aid in menstruation, alleviate cramps and tension, promotes perspiration, and as an insect repellant. In an herbal tea has been used to calm nerves, calm spasms and treat digestive issues. 
  Use in moderation. Can cause stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, burning of the throat; or fever. The oil is extremely potent and toxic so a few drops goes a long way. Do not take if pregnant or breastfeeding.
