Goldenseal is used primarily for its anti-inflammatory action to soothe irritated mucous membranes. Often combined with echinacea as an herbal remedy for colds.
Helps soothe irritated mucous membranes. Facilitates digestion by stimulating the production of bile. antibiotic, antiseptic, internal bleeding, colon inflammation, eye infections, internal hemorrhaging, infection, liver problems, excessive menstruation, mouth sores and vaginitis.
Stimulates uterine muscles, do not use during pregnancy. May raise blood pressure, do not use if there is a history of high blood pressure. Should not be used for longer than 2-4 weeks at a time.
