Bayberry is the herb to remember at the START of a cold because it wards off colds. Take Bayberry alone with some capsicum (cayenne) and more than likely the cold will be kept "off limits." In India Bayberry is used with ginger to combat the deadly effects of cholera. There is evidence which suggests that Bayberry has antimicrobial capabilities, in that it is able to prevent the development of pathogenic activity from microbes, and are useful in regulating mucus in the body.
Bayberry is terrific as a gargle for tonsillitis or a sore throat. Bayberry has been used to rejuvenate the body because it effects the adrenal glands. Bayberry has also been used to cleanse the blood stream and in purifying the systems of the body. Bayberry aids in digestion, nutrition and also contains high amounts of Vitamin C.
