| FIX YOUR BROKEN iPHONE GLASS FREE! |
SEE THE PIC BELOW TO SEE how I handled my iPhone broken glass situation. When I discovered the glass had cracked on my iPhone I didn't think too much of it. I just figured I would take it to the AT&T store and they would fix it. When I called AT&T ahead of time to ask about it, AT&T told me that the iPhone has to be fixed by Apple and that it would cost $200.00. Now that's when my blood pressured spiked. Needless to say, I was severely ticked off. I didn't really yell at the customer service guy because it wasn't his fault but I did tell him that I really needed to unload my thoughts on him about this even if it didn't do any good. . . . he understood.
I asked him, "What would you do if you were in my shoes?" He said, "I'd Google it because there are some people on the web who can fix the glass for $75.00. Still, I'm a bit too frugal to pay $75.00 to fix 'glass' considering how much I already paid for the phone. I did contact a guy out in Colorado who could replace the glass for $75.00 including shipping. All I had to do was remove my SIM card and then Fed-Ex the iPhone to him. He would replace the glass in the same day he received the phone and then Fed-Ex the phone back to me. Still, I'm a bit too frugal to fork over $75.00 for flippin' GLASS when I already paid $200 bucks for the 3G iPhone and a warranty plan of $75.00 that doesn't even cover the glass!
Now on my iPhone the glass was just cracked and this didn't mess with anything else. I could still pinch, slide and tap the glass as if nothing was wrong. The only thing was I couldn't put the phone up to my face and talk because I could feel the uneven glass. So one night after packaging up some of my Tsalagi Bath Salts to mail to a customer I wondered how regular ol' packaging tape would work on my iPhone. So I pulled off a strip of packaging tape and put it right over the glass and trimmed the edges with my Swiss Army Knife. Then I used my knife to cut a hole so I could hear through the tiny receiver and also cut a circle around the round 'home' button. I couldn't press the 'home' button through the packing tape unless I did this.
So there you go. Fix your iPhone for FREE (of course the packing tape will cost you) but what's a couple of bucks for packing tape? And yeah, I can still slide, pinch and tap on the screen with the packing tape on it. Notice in the pic below how you just saved yourself $200.00? (winky wink) You can see my iPhone glass is severely cracked but with the packing tape on it, it's just as smooth as it was before I cracked the glass. And to think at one time I paid $24.95 for the Invisible Shield Protective Cover until it wore out. Geez!
