USING FENG SHUI

A lot of people ask me if I believe in Feng Shui and do I use the principals and practices in my daily Life. Actually, I think Feng Shui is fun, necessary and applicable, but do I "believe" in Feng Shui? No, I "believe" in God. And "yes" I use the principals and practices as a guide to assist in my organizational and practical needs.

WHAT IS FENG SHUI?

The words "Feng" "Shui" mean "wind" and "water." The energy, called Qi, moves with the wind and is retained by water, called Kuo Po. The ancient Chinese Feng Shui masters learned how to collect and direct the energy. Feng Shui is cultural and not a religion. It is the art of placement in the home and office, and has nothing to do with religion. Since I do not identify myself with the Chinese culture, I use it as a gentle reminder to jar my mind into thinking about the things that I'd like to call more attention to.

WHAT TO PLACE WHERE

I had several meetings with various Feng Shui consultants. Instead of being sold little "Happy Buddha's" and knick-knacks that meant absolutely nothing to me, I placed things in certain areas that had some personal meaning for me. Instead of a "Happy Buddha" in my home, I placed a picture of Jesus who resonates with my spirit. Instead of hanging a brass Chinese symbol on the wall, I hung various Native American Art that represented my own culture instead of a culture that I could not relate to.

FOR EXAMPLE:

In the wealth corner of my home, is where I keep my treasure. This would be the thing that I cherish the most, which is my relationship with God. This is the area of my prayer room and where I go to pray, meditate, read or sit in gratitude. I had been told that maybe I should put this prayer room in my relationship area, but it felt more comfortable for me to put my most valued treasure in the area where it fit best for me - in the wealth area. After all, I do believe God is my Source and Supply for all material and spiritual Substance. That's wealth to me! In my world, God is Source, Supply and Substance.

USING THE BAGUA

Click on the "Metaphysical" button to learn more about Feng Shui and see a picture of the "Bagua," which is in the shape of a stop sign. Visually lay this Bagua over a diagram of your home and you'll be able to see what area of your Life requires attention and organization.

To make it easier for you to understand. Lay the bagua over your desk. The area where you are sitting in the middle of your desk is the Career area. To your left is Knowledge and Spirituality and to your right is Helpful People area. The far left-hand corner of your desk is Wealth and the far right-hand corner is Relationships. Straight ahead of you is Fame and Reputation (which is typically where a name plaque would be or a rack that holds business cards.)

GENTLE REMINDERS

Using Feng Shui as gentle reminders can be fun, will bring awareness to areas of your Life that were clogged with debris and can assist you in getting more creative with your decorating. If the relationship area of your home is cluttered, more than likely you may have some relationship issues arising in your personal Life. If you have having financial difficulties, the wealth area may have papers, unfiled taxes or clutter representing blocked financial success. It may even be a room in your room that is not being utilized. Wow, now that's an awareness!
