MISSION STATEMENT

My mission through this website is teach you how to become your can become your own best healthcare provider ™.  Through research, practice and knowledge, you too can lead a healthy, balanced life by embracing your whole body - spiritually, physically, emotionally, chemically, intuitively, artistically and lovingly.

BACKGROUND:

As a Native American, alternative and holistic health care methods have always been a way of life. My mother, originally from the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Cherokee, North Carolina taught me, "nature first." We didn't eat refined, processed, baked, packaged, boxed or canned food. When myself or my siblings were ill, my mother would simply boil a root, mix a concoction, make a poultice or sit beside our bed and rub eucalyptus on our neck. They say, "experience is the best teacher." Herbs, homeopathy, vitamins, compresses, poultices, packs and large amounts of love were what we had in our medicine cabinet.

EXPERIENCE IS THE BEST TEACHER!

While moving through my career, I found experience was still the best teacher. As a doctor, this definitely made for an honest and objective opinion regarding holistic healthcare methods because I had practiced these methods my entire life and I refuse to recommend a healing remedy to anyone without first experiencing it myself.

DOCTOR MEANS "TEACHER"

  • It doesn't mean give a patient an herb or homeopathic and then cross my fingers and hope it works.
  • It doesn't mean intimidate the patient because I know big medical words.
  • It doesn't mean stand in my ego because I don't want to be wrong.
  • It doesn't mean preach to the patient and . . .
  • It certainly doesn't mean blame the patient.

It means through my experience and knowledge, "teach" the patient.

THE TRUTH!

Throughout my life, my feelings on prescription drugs remain the same. My faith in prayer, meditation, affirmations and thought manifestation continue. And my opinion on energy medicine, touch therapy, nutrition, and exercise are unchanged. The truth is, bagworms do not grow on a golf course. Our chances of developing a pain, ache, disease, syndrome, illness or condition are greatly reduced in a healthy well-manicured environment.

NEW AGE OR OLD AGE?

Most of holistic healthcare has been dubbed "new age". This couldn't be further from the truth. The fact is that most holistic healthcare methods are actually "old age." Some practices such as acupuncture are as old as 6,000 years. If acupuncture still remains a treatment of choice for many people after 6,000 years, this should tell us something.

Enjoy the site!

Tons of Love and Blessings, Dr. Standley
